Newcastle are set to land Demba Ba in a bargain deal next week.

The French-born Senegal star is quitting West Ham on a free and Newcastle believe they are close to sealing a deal for the big striker.

Alan Pardew was back at his desk this week and completed the signing of Yohan Cabaye last night in a £5million switch from Lille.

Ba, 26, scored seven goals in 12 games for the Hammers' relegation-bound side and Newcastle can more than match his wages as they look to replace Andy Carroll with a new focal-point striker.

He also had a good goal ration in Germany for Hoffenheim bagging 37 in 97 games.

Zeleo sam neko mnogo vece ime/potencijal da vidim u napadu Newcastla. Vise ocekujem od Besta kad se oporavi nego od Dembe.

Ne bih se zalio na doticnog. 9 golova ove sezone u ekipi koja je otisla u qc je sasvim ok ucinak. Sto se mene tice moze!

Gledo sam West Ham 4 ili 5 puta ovo proljece, i Demba Ba je bio zvijer. igra malo povucenije a opet zabija.
Ima 26 godina, free agent, placa oko 35k.. To je mali rizik samo nek prodje medicinski....
Prije 5 mj. Stoke ga je trebao uzet za 7m, ali zbog koljena nisu riskirali toliki novac, pa ga je West Ham uzeo za 3,5M..... Bio je jedna od top kupovina.

I ja sam tako nesto, sporadicno gledao W. Ham i delovao mi je ok. Ma bice on ok. Best takodje deluje da moze biti sasvim dobar, u kombinaciji sa njim imamo resena prva dva spica. Sad, voleo bih jos nekoga cisto da Shola bude 6. resenje Very Happy

xisco je nas igrac, istekla mu posudba..deportivo ga je trebao otkupit za 3m ali su ispali iz lige..bas sam zadnju utakmicu deportivo-valencia gledao..place valeron, placu igraci, place xisco, place vlasnik, navijaci...i meni bilo zao.

...zbog ozljede aduktora malo je igrao ali je dao nedavno 2 odlicna gola,od toga gol glavom je znanstvena fantastika za sholu i lovena...gol u stilu kluiverta..

Ja sam pricao s njim na fejsu kaze 70posto nufc, 30 posto nova posudba...jos sam ga pitao za mog idola smitha posto mu je smith naj frend uz besta....reko je smith zeli da ostane ali ahley ima odluciti..

I jos je rekao da je pricao s pardewom prosli tjedan, da ga je nahvalio da je dobar momak i u tom stilu..valjda bi trebao dobit par utakmica ovih prijateljskih...

Tesko ga je prodati
pa kad je vec tu nek ga isprobaju..

mislim da je u svakom slucaju bolji od lovena i shole...sta god bilo, meni bi ba i best bili prvi, xisco prva izmena, pa airey mozda pa tek onda ova dva balvana...

Hopes that Newcastle would wrap up the signing of striker Demba Ba on Friday were weakened when Alan Pardew confirmed that the deal was in doubt following problems with the player's medical:
"There is an issue about his medical, and there has been in the past. We've got to overcome those things, but hopefully he can join the club. I think he'll be a big success.

"He's a player that has a natural eye for a goal, my connections at West Ham are very good and I know everything about him.

"I'm pretty relaxed that he can be a success at Newcastle if we can get him but it's a big if at the moment because there are some big hurdles to get across."

A knee problem was said to have caused Ba to fail a medical at Stoke City earlier this year, after which he turned up at West Ham and satisfied their medical requirements. He then missed the final game of West Ham's season with what was termed a thigh strain.

It remains to be seen whether a renegotiated deal can be concluded - or whether this is part of our strategy to drag the cost down, but the warning signs are there already.

Three loan and permanent transfers have already been concluded in the last year for players who weren't able to kick a ball - Stephen Ireland's loan, the the signing of Dan Gosling and the conversion of Hatem Ben Arfa's loan deal to a more permanent arrangement. Crossing our fingers that another "good deal" comes off goes beyond gambling.

The 26 year-old travelled to Tyneside for a medical and contract negotiations on Thursday, with Sky TV pictures showing him and his entourage outside SJP.

He's available on a free transfer, thanks to a clause in the three and a half year deal he signed with West Ham in January 2011, allowing him to walk away when the Hammers were relegated from the Premier League.

While at The Boleyn, he managed seven goals in ten league starts (plus two sub outings), after scoring six times during his 17 games earlier in the season for Bundesliga side, Hoffenheim.

Paris-born (coming from a neighbouring suburb to Hatem Ben Arfa), Ba is a current Senegal international and is set to feature for them in the African Cup of Nations Finals in January 2012 - their qualification for the event in Gabon / Equatorial Guinea will be confirmed in September, assuming that they avoid defeat by DR Congo.
