Everton are at risk of losing the talented youngster on a free transfer after some confusion surrounding Gosling’s contract status.
It is understood that the club verbally offered him a new contract, but as no written offer was submitted to the 20-year-old midfielder before his current deal ended, the Premier League have been asked to make a ruling on the situation.
All of this has alerted a number of Premier League clubs to the possibility of Gosling being available for free this summer, with Newcastle thought to be one of the club’s to register their interest.
With a limited transfer fund available to Newcastle manager Chris Hughton this summer, it would be a massive coup if the club could do a deal to sign Gosling for free.
The England under 21 looks like a brilliant prospect for the future and despite currently being out with a long term injury, Everton will surely not want to lose him for free.
